WelcomeYou will begin your journey through life's universe by following the atomic numbers of the elements. This will be your "Yellow Brick Road" to find your way home. The universe is filled with matter, and matter contains atoms. What you do not know is that atoms play a role in the making of different kinds of matter known as elements, and these elements have an order to them. Elements are classified or grouped according to their common traits. As you embark upon your journey, you will learn that the periodic table is divided into 18 small groups of elements which belong to three larger categories: metals, non-metals, and metalloids. . Over the next few days, you will be doing online assignments as well as in class assignments to help you understand the periodic chart and the elements on it. At the end of this assignment, you will be able to use a periodic table and know where to look for its chemical symbol, name, atomic number, and atomic mass. You will also understand about an element's number of protons and how this relates to their atomic number. You will finish your journey by learning of the different properties of two elements and making your own comic strip characters that display their particular chemical properties. The Journey Begins Here!
