Introduction
Dr. Heidegger invites four of his old friends to his
home. There he offers them a drink from a bottle of magical water that
will make them young again. Several themes on human nature are
presented in this short story: the magic of youth is wasted on the young,
the sins of youth are paid for by the miseries of old age, true beauty lives in
the spirit, physical beauty fade quickly, when good times return, people quickly
forget lessons learned in sorrow.
