Getting
Started
**You need to pick one of the following activities to create a power point
presentation:
1. By using the journal character that you were given, create a "My
life" of that character.
2. Pick a group of people (such as in race, religion, jobs, etc.) and
research how they were
affected by Hitler and World War II. (You could pick children, Christians,
handicap
people, jehovah's
witnesses, gypsies,
etc.).
3. Research what people did to fight back
against Hitler and the Nazis.
Research how people
resisted by hiding,
fighting, speaking out, or how non-Jewish people helped
others.
4. Do a "my life" on Hitler's life
and answer the questions
why he persecuted the Jewish
people, why he wanted the Aryan race, and why he did what he did.
5. Do a "my life" on the author Elie
Wiesel."Night"

1 (Thursday
3-22-01)
*Pre-test
*Holocaust packet and class discussion. Homework:
**"Night":
Read chapters 1-3
**Start study guide
**Start 2 post it notes per chapter for class discussions. Day
2 (Monday 3-26-01)
*Pass out pictures of the Holocaust and have students journal
on two pictures (need at least 1 paragraph with a title and caption).
*Class discussion on journal entries, chapter quiz, and pass out
vocabulary words.
*Pass out individual people for students to journal on and have
them create their own journal. Journal in first person, meet up with
main character (Elie), and incorporate details to allow them to travel
or talk with each other.
*Take chapter quiz. Homework :
**"Night": Read chapters 4-6
**Study guide, post it notes, and diary entries.
Day
3 (Wed.3-28-01)
*Discuss novel and post it notes.
*Review study guide, events, characters, and concepts in novel.
*Discuss and share diary entries.
*Take chapter quiz and vocabulary quiz.
*Go to computer lab and go over teacher presentation, then have
students look at various links and information to produce their
own power point presentation from the four topics given to them.
*Students will get in pairs of two and create a power point project
on the following topics:

****Requirements: You
will need to have the following in your power point
presentation (you may work with one partner or by yourself).
1. Title page
(title must be creative and tie into your topic)
2. Name, date,
and internet sights either on your project or printed out
and turned in with your project.
3. Place at least
5 pictures from internet sights or photos you decide to scan in.
4. Need at least
2 different sound clips.
5. Need
backgrounds, page animation, and custom animation.
6. Need 5-6
slides (pages), they must flow on your topic, and create an
interesting and informational story line.
7. Spelling,
grammar, and creativity count
8. Presentation
(your presentation must be planned out, flow, but don't be boring.)

**Look up this project at home and go to various sites to help you with your
power point project/presentation.

Day 4 (Friday 3-30-01)
*Go into the computer lab and work on power
point projects, refer to this page
for your homework and project requirements.
*Briefly go over post it notes, diaries, and study guides.
*At the end of class start power point presentations??

**Continue to look up this project at home and go to various sites to help you
with your power
point projects/presentations.
**Vocabulary - do definitions only, quiz next class.

Day 5 (Tuesday
4-3-01)
*Go into computer lab and work on power point
projects (finish presentations).
*Briefly go over post it notes, diaries, and study guides.
*Take vocabulary quiz
*Review for test
*******If we are not able to go into the computer lab, we will review
the novel, take an end of the novel quiz, and talk about the Power of Persuasion
that WWII had on people all over the world (you will create and present your
own propaganda posters).

Day 6 (Thursday 4-5-01)
*Collect study guides, post it notes, diaries, and
novels.
*Take test
*Pass out journal "real life" characters (containing the rest of the
information regarding the fate
of the journal character). Do a one page separate diary entry either changing
the history of your character or a one page re-write of the ending of the
novel
"Night" by re-writing history.

just learned about the Holocaust.

*Finish movie and collect one page papers.
