Started
You will be working through a lesson on classification with the aid of this web page. Follow the teacher's instructions for most of the work, but be prepared to work on your own or in your lab group, by clicking on the hyperlinks and following the directions. Textbook: Holt Science and Technology Life Sciences: Read Pages 228-231
Each of the day's activities are for a block
schedule. (90 minute class)
Take pre-test. Hand in to teacher when completed. Answer journal questions in your science notebook. Do tennis shoe classification activity and/or fingerprinting activity as an introduction to classification. Homework: Complete lab write-up. Text Book : Read Page228 Day

View video on classification and answer questions. Do insect classification activity given to you by the teacher. Work in your lab group. Read essay on taxonomy and complete corresponding crossword puzzle. Homework : Make up a mnemonic device to help you remember the levels of classification. Text Book : Read Page 229 Day

Watch power point presentation on classification of living things. Read in textbook pages 230-232 Homework: Lab in Lab book p. 592: Shape Island
Day 4 Journal: Quick lab: evolutionary diagrams p. 321 in textbook and evolutionary diagram (cladogram) for fossil horses to modern horses. Read in textbook p. 232-239. Take notes on note outline form. Homework: Directed reading for Chapter 10 Section 1 and 2
Day 5 Final Project Work on final project: performance based assessment. Turn in to teacher. Do final test.
